The Vitality of Rio in Reston...LANK Summer Camp 2016
Campers at Lake Anne Nursery Kindergarten experienced the vitality of Rio, the natural elements of the rainforest, and inspiration from the summer Olympics without ever leaving Reston!
Forty campers spent the last two weeks engrossed in creating art using all types of media including watercolors, tissue paper, wire sculpture with papier mache, beading, clay, and acrylic on canvas. The children’s beautiful art works were inspired by the Olympic Games in Brazil and feature many of the natural elements that are prominent in the region.
Campers can’t wait to shake their handcrafted rain sticks, or find a special shelf for their painted frogs modeled with clay. Colorful birds, varied fish and sea turtles along with bright butterflies line the halls of the school. A special highlight of the camp experience was the gallery day when all the artistic endeavors were on display for parents and special guests to view. LANK campers also performed a dance for the gallery attendees, making the experience very memorable!
The beauty of Brazil seemed a great choice for summer art camp as the students at Lake Anne Nursery Kindergarten already enjoy natural beauty in their school’s campus; surrounded by a canopy of trees and certified as a wildlife sanctuary by the National Audubon Society.
